2017: New Years Resolution

Christmas is checked off the list for this year, the wrapping paper has been recycled, and all the new gifts have been put away. Now it is time to gear up for the New Year and the process of defining what new resolutions you will put into place to make yourself a better version for the next 365 days. Most traditional resolutions revolve around keeping fit, adopting a cleaner diet, achieving a stronger financial standing, or spending more time with friends and family. So, how about shaking things up this year by including your automobile in this year’s commitment? This resolution should be a manageable one and will lead to a safer, cleaner, and more reliable car! Should any problems or glitches arise along the way, Cassels Garage is here to assist you in successfully reaching your New Year’s goals!

Here are some possible resolutions regarding your automobile for the New Year:

Tidy up

A good resolution is to vow to keep your car a tidier place. Road filth, tree sap, bird droppings, salt spray, and pollen can cause exterior erosion and dull the finish. A weekly washing could prevent this and give you the perfect opportunity to apply a coat of protective wax and complete a thorough vacuum. Throw a stash of grocery bags under your seat. When exiting the car at the end of the day, have passengers throw in all their wrappers, trash, cans, tissues, water bottles, and papers into one of the disposable bags to take with you as you leave the car. This commitment will give you more pride in your vehicle and protect its value in the long run.

Establish scheduled maintenance routines

Just like you schedule annual doctor’s appointments to keep yourself healthy, you should establish a scheduled maintenance routine at regular intervals to keep your car running optimally. At this time, you can have your care serviced at the appropriate mileage for the following services: tire rotations, brake inspection/repair, engine and transmission work, oil change, cooling system servicing, tune ups, and water and fuel pump assessment.

Practice preventative care

Make sure to regularly check your tire pressure, and don’t ignore check engine lights. Prevent more troublesome and expensive problems by quickly addressing issues such as a leaky gasket or a squealing belt. By being proactive with scheduling maintenance and addressing any malfunctions in a timely manner, you are investing in the quality of your automobile’s life and eventual trade or sale value.
