3 Quick Ways to Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself

Accidents happen every day. It is just a way the life works. We at Cassels Garage understand this more than most because we frequently see the aftermath of the accidents that can happen out on the road. We have seen our fair share of fender benders and such, but we would like to help prevent these and more serious accidents in the future. So, this week we will be giving you 3 easy ways to check yourself before you wreck yourself. Listen up and enjoy!

Check your speed

It is so easy to not pay attention to how fast you are actually going. This is especially true here in Brevard County. We are all busy people with busy lives, but it is important that when we get behind the wheel that we take a second and just slow down a bit. When you find yourself rushing to your next destination, try to remember that no appointment or meeting is worth putting you or your fellow drivers’ lives at risk. Don’t speed through the yellow turning red light and don’t swerve through the lanes passing people who just “aren’t going fast enough.” Read your speedometer. Follow the speed limits but also the flow of traffic. Overall, just slow down.

Check your physical state

This is an obvious suggestion, but it is important to know how you’re feeling physically. The most obvious question is usually “have you had any alcohol to drink?” Or, have you taking any substances that might hinder your ability to drive? Something you might forget to check up on is how much rest you’ve had. Have you gotten enough sleep so you can safely get from point A to point B? Don’t put anyone in danger by getting behind the wheel when you feel tired. Not only could falling asleep behind the wheel harm you, but you could also take other drivers out as well. So, really check your physical wellness every time you turn that key in the ignition.

Check your mental state

Have you ever gotten home from work and realized you don’t even remember the drive? It can be a scary thing to think about. Driving when your thoughts are elsewhere is also a sure fire way to put yourself in danger. When you allow your brain to be on anything besides the road, accidents can surely follow. So, make sure that when you pull out of your driveway you are fully aware of where you are going. It can be a difficult thing to not let your mind wander to the issues in life, but try not to do that when you are behind the wheel.
