Back to School Part 2

The new school year is upon us here in Brevard County. Seems like summer break goes by faster and faster every year. For many teenagers, this will be their first year driving themselves to school. This is a super exciting time for our young drivers and possibly a super nerve racking time for their parents. But there is no need to fear. Cassels Garage is here to help! Below is a checklist of things your young driver should be able to answer before they cruise into this school year.

Do they know how to check their oil?

It is important to know how to check your own oil. Did you know that your oil should generally be changed every 7,500 miles? This is important to know because, without proper oil changes, you may just shorten the lifespan of your engine. This obviously wouldn’t be good. So learn how to check your oil and know when to bring it into us at Cassels Garage. We are here and happy to help you with this easy car maintenance procedure.

Do you know how to change a tire?

This one is important. Yes, there are companies that will come and change your tire for you, but what happens when you are stuck somewhere with no cell service? Or what if it’s late at night, your phone has died and you just blew out a tire? It is just safer to know the basics of how to change a tire. Some cars have their spare tires in some strange places so know where yours is. Once you get the spare on, head on over to Cassels Garage and we can help mend or replace your flat tire.

Do you know where the closest gas station is?

This may sound silly, but knowing where the closest gas stations are in your neighborhood can help when you have an emergency or if you’re in a pinch for time. In the event you forget to fill up your car or have less gas than you thought, it is nice to know where the closest gas station is.

Do you know where your license, registration and insurance card is?

In the chance that you are ever pulled over or need to show proof of insurance, it is important you know where your license, registration and insurance information is. There is nothing worse than not being able to find these things when someone is watching you look for them. Keep them in a safe place where you can easily reach them.

Cassels Garage is here to help you get your car back to school ready, so stop by today. We are a family-owned, full-service garage and we are very proud to serve Brevard County. Stop in and see us today.
