Drivers Education Tips

If you follow our blog, you may have read a post we did on Tips for Brevard County Beginner Drivers. One of the tips was to enroll in a local driver’s education course. At Cassels Garage, we see a lot of cars after there are accidents. We want our new drivers to feel safe and supported. We thought it might be helpful if we shared a few more tips. Here are 3 tips on how to learn the most your can from your driver’s education course.

Tip #1

Listen, even when you are bored. There classes might be fun if you have friends taking the course as well, but remember you are there to learn. These classes may seem to be a bit bland but just remember that you are about to behind the wheel of something that could hurt you or someone else if not operated correctly. Listen, and pay attention to what your driver’s education teacher is trying to teach you. These educators have the tools to help you succeed. All you have to do is listen.

Tip #2

Just put your phone away. There is someone in front of you trying to teach you all they can in the short time that they have you. Give them your full attention. Think of it as practice for the day you are actually free to drive wherever you please. Then you especially shouldn’t have your phone out. So just think of it as a practice for the real thing. It also might be good for you to have some separation from the device anyways.

Tip #3

Practice what you have learned in your driver’s education course with an adult. These courses are designed to give you the foundation for a successful driving experience. After you leave the course, the rest is up to you. Just because you have finished the course does not make you an expert. So, continue to practice until you are 100% confident in your abilities. Don’t get cocky. Learn to look for your weaknesses and then practice to improve in those areas. Again, remember you are putting yourself behind the wheel of something that can be harmful if not used correctly.
